Chongming South Channel Tunnel, Shanghai, China

 

Maunsell AECOM has been selected by Shanghai Hu Sui River Crossing Investment Development Co. Ltd. to act as an independent consultant to undertake design review of the 9 km Chongming South Channel Tunnel in Shanghai, which will be the world longest bored tunnel underneath water. This tunnel is part of the 25km long, 12.3 billion yuan Shanghai – Chongming expressway, linking the Changxing and Chongming islands to the city.

 

Maunsell AECOM will be responsible for reviewing the preliminary designs done by the local design institute and providing expert advice on various technical matters.

 

This project will be managed under direction of Fred Ng, with Li Jiantong, the Deputy General Manager / Infrastructure of our Shanghai Office, as the local coordinator. Leo Lee will lead the E&M team to provide expertise advice on tunnel E&M, in particular tunnel ventilation.
